The second
one-day match between India and England has been won by the hosts by 86 runs.
With this win, they have level the series by 1-1 and the final match of the
series will be played on Tuesday. In the second ODI, England had set a target
of 323 for India to win; in reply India could score 236 runs in 50 overs and
lost the match by 86 runs.
Earlier,
England's captain Eoin Morgan decided to bat first after winning the toss in
the historic ground of Lord's. Hosts England have scored a strong score of 322
runs losing seven wickets in 50 overs in the second match of the three one-day
series on Saturday.
For England,
Joe Root scored the highest score of 113 runs. He was run out on the last ball
of the innings. He hit eight fours and six in 116 balls in his innings. Captain
Eoin Morgan scored 53 runs in 51 balls with the help of four fours and a six.
David Willy was successful in making 50 runs in 31 balls with five fours and a
six.
Jason Roy
contributed 40 and Jonny Bairstow contributed 38 runs. Kuldeep Yadav took three
wickets for India Umesh Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal took one wicket
each.
Raina (46),
Kohli (45) were the top contributors from team india. Going after the target,
Rohit Sharma and Dhawan gave good start to Team India. Both added 49 runs for
the first wicket. But Rohit (15) was dismissed in the form of first wicket.
After this, Dhawan (36) could not do too much and he also returned to pavilion.
After the two openers were dismissed, KL Rahul also went on (0) and Team India
came under pressure.
However,
Kohli and Raina took over the innings and both of them slowly pushed the score
forward. Meanwhile England's bowlers were not giving any chance to both to open
their hands and due to the pressure of the required run rate, Kohli (45) and
then Raina (46) were dismissed. India's last hope was dependent on Dhoni but he
was not getting anybody's support from the other end. After this, Dhoni
completed 10,000 runs of his ODI career.
But due to
the pressure of the required run rate he also got out after scoring (37), in
the end, India lost the second ODI.
Liam
Plunkett made the most damage to the Indian team and got 4 wickets. David Wiley
and Abdul Rashid got 2-2 wickets. Mark Wood and Moin Ali took one wicket each.
