The biggest illusion about blood donation is that donors cannot donate more than once a year, but this is not the case. A healthy person can donate blood every three to six months. There is a perception among people that blood donation is a result of weakness in the body and the amount of blood donation is not made for several months. Whereas the reality is that blood donation does not bring any kind of weakness. Within 24 hours of blood donation, the blood starts forming again. There is also a misconception among people about blood donation that it reduces the immunity of the body and tightens the diseases quickly, while blood donation makes the body healthy.

According to experts, cholesterol level and blood pressure are correct by donating blood, blood is diluted, which is beneficial for the heart. A report from the National Cancer Institute, Finland, states that, those who make regular blood donations, iron content in their blood remains balanced and the risk of cancer is reduced. Increasing weight by blood donation is also controlled. Blood donation of one unit is 650 calories burned to the body, which is helpful in controlling the weight. If you regularly donate blood, then you’re good and you can also avoid diseases like Alzheimer's in old age.

Who can donate blood?
An individual who are not infectious and have an age between 18 to 60 years and their weight is 50 kg or more, then such people can donate blood. The most important of Hemoglobin's level for blood donation is correct. If your hemoglobin is 12.5 or more, you can donate blood. Those who have serious problems like BP, Diabetes, Kidney, Heart Disease and Cancer, they cannot donate blood. If you have done any type of vaccination, you cannot donate blood for one month.

Necessary caution
If you have to donate blood tomorrow, then drink plenty of water a night before. Also eat fruit juices, salads, and green leafy vegetables. If you are empty stomach before donating blood, then it can worsen your health, so don't give empty stomach blood. Do not eat anything three hours before donating blood. Do not get up immediately after donating blood, rest for some time. Immediately after donating blood, taking cigarette or alcohol is harmful. Exercising excessively or working hard for 24 hours of blood donation is not right for health.
